A 0-0 draw against rivals HNK Hajduk on Saturday earned NK Dinamo Zagreb their fifth successive Croatian title.
Champions on 11 previous occasions since independence, Dinamo knew that a point would suffice despite nearest challengers HNK Cibalia's 2-0 win at struggling NK Medimurje. Though they rarely threatened to break the deadlock against Hajduk, Dinamo possess a seven-point lead over Cibalia, who have just two games remaining.
"We need to enjoy these moments of domination of Croatian football," said Dinamo goalkeeper Tomislav Butina. "It will not always be like this in the future so it will be nice to remember these days."
Dinamo, who remain unbeaten at home this campaign, are now assured of a place in next season's UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. "We won the trophy; we didn't play our best, but we won it," said midfielder Milan Badelj. "Our primary goal was to achieve at least a draw and to win the title. We did that."
