• A former goalkeeper whose career was ended early by injury, Miroslav Pelta has had a long relationship with football in Jablonec, northern Bohemia. He was elected president of FK Jablonec at the age of 27 and is now the club's owner as well as a member of the municipal council.

• He left the Jablonec football scene for six years to serve as general manager of AC Sparta Praha from 1999 till 2005, and Pelta was also a Football Association of the Czech Republic (FAČR) executive committee member during that period, and director of the FAČR marketing company. He also worked on the UEFA Club Competitions Committee from 2000–02.

• "I will begin negotiations with both the private and state sectors to secure enough money for the whole of [Czech] football," said Pelta when he was elected FAČR president in November 2011, succeeding Ivan Hašek. Re-election for a four-year term followed in June 2013.
