South Africa 1-0 Denmark
Denmark were handed a second successive defeat in FIFA World Cup warm-up matches as Katlego Mphela struck the only goal of the game for the tournament hosts in Atteridgeville.
Beaten 1-0 by Australia four days ago, Morten Olsen's team struggled to impose their will against South Africa and were given their first warning when Teko Modise headed narrowly wide just before the half-hour. Daniel Agger responded by nodding a Christian Poulsen free-kick against the crossbar, but that proved a rare chance for the European team, who then survived openings for Modise, Aaron Mokoena and Reneilwe Letsholonyane.
Thomas Enevoldsen almost gave Denmark the lead when his deflected attempt was saved by Itumeleng Khune, and he was left ruing that miss with 14 minutes remaining as Mphela collected a fine pass from Letsholonyane and buried a shot low beyond Stephan Andersen. At the other end, Enevoldsen shot wide and Mikkel Beckmann had a volley saved in added time as Olsen's charges – who open their Group E account against the Netherlands on 14 June – failed to level.
