Paul Scholes has signed a new one-year contract with Manchester United FC, keeping the 35-year-old at Old Trafford until June 2011.
The former England midfielder has spent his whole career with United, making his debut in September 1994 and going on to score 148 goals in 639 appearances. Manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "We are delighted Paul is staying on for another year. His form this year indicates his ability and his enjoyment of the game are as strong as ever, that’s every reason to stay on."
Scholes, who has played in 24 top-flight games this season, has won the UEFA Champions League twice and the Premier League nine times, picking up 22 honours in total. He said: "I am pleased to have signed for another year. I am feeling good and enjoying my football. I would like to thank the boss, the coaching staff and also the fans for their continued support."
