Javier Hernández scored a 75th-minute winner as Manchester United FC came from behind to defeat third-tier Southampton FC in the FA Cup fourth round, while holders Chelsea FC will replay against Everton FC after a 1-1 draw.
Michael Owen (65) equalised for United with a close-range header before Hernández slipped in the decisive goal via a post having been played in by Ryan Giggs' deft pass. Chelsea, who defeated Everton in the 2009 showpiece, fell behind when Louis Saha (62) continued his fine recent form against the visitors by heading in Leighton Baines's corner. The lead lasted all of 13 minutes, however, as substitute Salomon Kalou slotted past Tim Howard.
Birmingham City FC, who reached the League Cup final in midweek, were two goals down at home to second-tier Coventry City FC. David Bentley (35) started the recovery with his first goal since joining on loan from Tottenham Hotspur FC, with Stuart Parnaby and Kevin Phillips also on target for the Midlands club.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa FC overcame Blackburn Rovers FC 3-1, Bolton Wanderers FC and Wigan Athletic FC drew 0-0 and Crawley Town FC became the first non-league team to reach the fifth round in 17 years thanks to their 1-0 victory at Torquay United FC.
