Goals from Dimitar Berbatov and Antonio Valencia earned Manchester United FC a 2-0 victory against Fulham FC which extended their Premier League lead to ten points.
With second-placed Arsenal FC, who now have two games in hand, not playing until Sunday when they visit Blackpool FC, United took full advantage. Berbatov's 21st league goal of the season on 12 minutes was added to just after the half-hour mark when Valencia headed in from close range.
Chelsea FC warmed up for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final against United on Wednesday by defeating relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic FC 1-0, Florent Malouda (67) landing the decisive blow. That lifted the Blues above Manchester City FC into third and within a point of Arsenal. Tottenham Hotspur FC, in fifth, continued their pursuit of a top-four finish with a 3-2 home win against Stoke City FC.
Elsewhere, Everton FC triumphed 3-0 at second-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers FC, while Daniel Sturridge continued his fine form for Bolton Wanderers FC with two of their goals in a 3-0 defeat of West Ham United FC. West Bromwich Albion FC, meanwhile, eased their relegation worries with a 3-2 success at Sunderland AFC, and Blackburn Rovers against Birmingham City FC ended 1-1.
