Ben Arfa lifts Newcastle level with sorry Tottenham

Newcastle United FC have moved level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur FC following a 2-0 win against Bolton Wanderers FC and a shock defeat for Harry Redknapp's men.

Newcastle United FC moved level in the Premier League with fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur FC following a 2-0 success against Bolton Wanderers FC and a surprise home reverse for Harry Redknapp's charges at the hands of Norwich City FC.

Newcastle had to battle hard to overcome relegation-threatened Bolton but broke the deadlock after 73 minutes thanks to a wonderful individual goal by Hatem Ben Arfa, who raced 70 metres before beating Adam Bogdan. Papiss Demba Cissé's tenth league goal since signing in January took Alan Pardew's side level with Tottenham, beaten 2-1 at by Norwich.

Though Jermain Defoe (33) cancelled out Anthony Pilkington's early opener, Elliott Bennett struck the winner midway through the second half to place the UEFA Champions League prospects of Tottenham, who have mustered just six points from their last eight matches, in jeopardy.

Chelsea FC missed out on the chance to leapfrog their north London rivals and remain sixth after a 1-1 with Fulham FC, whose forward Clint Dempsey (82) cancelled out Frank Lampard's penalty (45). Everton FC trounced Sunderland AFC 4-0 courtesy of second-half strikes by Magaye Gueye (52), Steven Pienaar (75), Leon Osman (76) and Jack Colback's own goal (81). Aston Villa FC drew 1-1 with Stoke City FC.
