Reigning English champions Manchester City FC earned their second win of the season, beating Queens Park Rangers FC 3-1 at home.
After scoring in the FA Community Shield and last week's draw at Liverpool FC, Yaya Touré was a predictable opening goalscorer. Bobby Zamora nodded in a surprise second-half equaliser but Edin Džeko immediately headed in Carlos Tévez's cross. Tévez then deflected in Džeko's effort in added time to earn his 50th league goal for the club. City are two points behind Chelsea FC, who have a perfect three wins.
In contrast, André Villas-Boas is yet to see his Tottenham Hotspur FC team record a victory. As last week, Spurs were held 1-1, with a late goal again proving their undoing. Debutant Moussa Dembélé's spin and fine low finish opened the scoring, but Norwich's own summer arrival, Robert Snodgrass, snatched a late point and Tottenham substitute Tom Huddlestone received a straight red card in the final stages.
Andy Carroll was another new signing to begin brightly, the Liverpool FC loanee helping West Ham United FC beat Fulham FC 3-0 before going off injured. Sunderland AFC new man Steven Fletcher scored twice in a 2-2 draw that eneded Swansea City FC's perfect start
