Struggling QPR turn to Redknapp

Bottom of the table and without a Premier League win, Queens Park Rangers FC have installed Harry Redknapp as their new manager following Friday's dismissal of Mark Hughes.

Queens Park Rangers FC have named Harry Redknapp as their new manager.

Redknapp replaces Mark Hughes, who was dismissed on Friday after presiding over a winless start to the Premier League season for the west London club, who sit bottom of the table.

The 65-year-old Redknapp has signed a two-and-a-half year contract at Loftus Road and was at Old Trafford for QPR's 3-1 loss against Manchester United FC on Saturday, but did not take charge of the team. The new manager said: "I can't wait to get to work and get the results necessary to kick-start our season."

Redknapp started his coaching career at AFC Bournemouth, before moving on to West Ham United FC and Portsmouth FC, where he won the FA Cup. He returned to Pompey after a brief spell at Southampton FC before moving to Tottenham Hotspur FC and leading them into the UEFA Champions League. He left Tottenham in the summer after three and half seasons in charge.

Rangers have just four points from 13 games and their next fixture is at Sunderland AFC on Tuesday.
