Arsenal move clear, United and City slip up

Arsenal FC are two points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 2-1 win at Swansea City AFC, on a day when both Manchester clubs suffered unexpected defeats.

Arsenal FC are two points clear of north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur FC after a 2-1 victory at Swansea City AFC.

The Gunners moved to the head of the standings thanks to 18-year-old Serge Gnabry's first senior goal, as well as Aaron Ramsey's eighth club strike of the season. Michael Laudrup's team pulled one back through Ben Davies but Arsenal stood firm to record their fifth successive league victory.

Tottenham had hit the summit following a 1-1 draw with Chelsea FC in the lunchtime kick-off. Gylfi Sigurdsson put them in front after 19 minutes, but John Terry's second-half header earned the visitors a point at White Hart Lane. Chelsea finished the game with ten men after Fernando Torres was shown a second yellow card.

Manchester City FC would have drawn level with Spurs with victory, but they suffered a 3-2 loss at Aston Villa FC despite going ahead twice through Yaya Touré and Edin Džeko. Pegged back on both occasions, Andreas Weimann completed the turnaround with a winner 15 minutes from time. Manchester United FC, meanwhile, are 12th after losing 2-1 at home to West Bromwich Albion FC, Saido Berahino scoring the winner for Steve Clarke's side.

Southampton FC – who are up to fourth – Cardiff City AFC and Hull City AFC also picked up three points.
