Liverpool FC moved within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal FC with an emphatic victory over Fulham FC while Chelsea FC were held at home.
Two goals in three first-half minutes set Liverpool on their way before a double from in-form Luis Suárez sealed a 4-0 win and ensured the Merseyside club continued their impress start to the season. Chelsea were held to their first draw at Stamford Bridge this season by West Bromwich Albion FC. Samuel Eto'o gave the Blues the lead but Shane Long and Stéphane Sessegnon had seemingly set the visitors on their way to victory until Eden Hazard struck from the penalty spot at the death.
Southampton FC leapfrogged Chelsea into third place with a 4-1 victory over Hull City AFC. Rickie Lambert scored his 33rd consecutive penalty to help the Saints on their way to a sixth victory of the campaign. Everton FC failed to find a way past bottom club Crystal Palace FC while Cardiff City AFC could not build on their derby victory over Swansea City AFC, slipping to a 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa FC. Norwich City FC overcame West Ham United FC 3-1 in the day's evening game.
