Aston Villa FC striker Juan Pablo Angel has undergone knee surgery in his native Colombia.
The Colombian striker was in Medellin over the weekend to attend the birth of his son, and had an arthroscopy on the knee injury that has troubled him since the start of the season at the same time.
"The season has been strange for him. He picked up an injury against Walsall [FC] in a pre-season game and wasn't ready for the start of the season," said Villa manager Graham Taylor. "I'm not saying this injury is from that game, but he has had trouble with his knee on and off ever since. While he was returning to Colombia, it seemed a good opportunity for him to have an arthroscopy to establish the extent of the damage."
Although he has struggled to hold down a first-team place and has appeared mainly as a substitute this season, Taylor said he hoped to have Angel available for the closing weeks of the season. "
He should be back in the next couple of weeks and hopefully he will be fit before the end of the season," he said.
