Spanish Cup winners Sevilla FC have confirmed Antonio Álvarez will remain as their coach for the 2010/11 campaign following a meeting of the club's board of directors.
Álvarez stepped up from technical secretary to take over from Manuel Jiménez as head coach following the latter's dismissal on 24 March, with Sevilla lying outside the UEFA Champions League places in the Liga. The 55-year-old promptly led the Andalusian outfit to fourth position in the Liga – and a spot in the UEFA Champions League play-off round – while last week's 2-0 final defeat of Club Atlético de Madrid at the Camp Nou secured Sevilla's fifth Copa del Rey.
