Levante UD's ambitions of finishing fourth and claiming a UEFA Champions League place for next season were given a boost after they overcame Granada CF 3-1. 

Juan Ignacio Martínez's side were eager to arrest a three-match winless streak and broke the deadlock through Arouna Koné's 15th goal of the season. Although the visitors momentarily restored parity, goals from Xavi Torres and Valdo secured the points and ensured Levante leapfrogged Málaga CF, who play Valencia CF on Sunday, into fourth. 

Real Sporting de Gijón improved their survival chances with a commanding 3-0 win at mid-table RCD Espanyol. Adrián Colunga gave the visitors the lead, before Óscar Trejo and substitute Mate Bilić completed a routine win.

Elsewhere, RCD Mallorca triumphed 3-1 at Getafe CF and Real Sociedad de Fútbol were 3-0 victors against Real Racing Club, who were already relegated prior to kick-off, while Villarreal CF were held to a 1-1 draw by CA Osasuna.
