Messi at the double as Barcelona march on

Lionel Messi's second-half double helped FC Barcelona make it four straight Liga wins under Tito Vilanova with a 4-1 victory at Getafe CF, before Real Madrid CF lost 1-0 to Sevilla FC.

Lionel Messi helped Tito Vilanova continue his excellent start as FC Barcelona coach, scoring twice as the Blaugrana defeated Getafe CF 4-1 for their fourth successive Liga victory this term.

Left-back Adriano (32) scored for the second consecutive game, latching on to a loose ball and beating Miguel Ángel Moyà after Cesc Fàbregas' run. Messi (74) doubled the lead from the penalty spot and knocked in the third from Martín Montoya's centre. Pablo Sarabia's deflected shot brought Getafe the third goal of a hectic six-minute spell, but served only as consolation as David Villa struck an added-time fourth.

In contrast, rivals Real Madrid CF remain on four points after their second defeat of the campaign, 1-0 at Sevilla FC. The unmarked Piotr Trochowski (2) slammed the hosts in front with a wonderful half-volley from a corner. Andrés Palop parried a Luka Modrić shot on to a post and Sergio Ramos headed against the bar as Madrid sought a leveller that never arrived.

Elsewhere, UEFA Champions League debutants Málaga CF beat Levante UD 3-1, new signing Javier Saviola scoring his first goal for the club, and Valencia CF overcame RC Celta de Vigo 2-1.
