Real Madrid CF continue to struggle with their Spanish Liga defence having been held to a goalless draw at CA Osasuna.

Madrid, without suspended talisman Cristiano Ronaldo, had won just two of their last five fixtures in all competitions and again struggled against Osasuna, who started the day bottom of the table. Unable to find a breakthrough in Pamplona, Madrid's misery was compounded by the 76th-minute dismissal of Kaká – the third successive match in which the Merengues have had a man sent off. José Mourinho's side are now 15 points behind Liga leaders FC Barcelona and four adrift of Club Atlético de Madrid, having played a game more than both.

Elsewhere, RCD Espanyol moved out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 victory against RC Celta de Vigo, Valencia CF defeated Sevilla FC 2-0 thanks to two Roberto Soldado goals, and Real Valladolid CF won 3-1 against RCD Mallorca.
