Martínez accepts Valladolid challenge

After two successful campaigns with Levante UD, coach Juan Ignacio Martínez has penned a two-year deal to take over from Miroslav Djukić at Liga rivals Real Valladolid CF.

Real Valladolid CF have moved to fill the void left by Valencia CF-bound coach Miroslav Djukić by hiring Juan Ignacio Martínez on a two-year contract.

The 48-year-old – widely known as JIM in Spain – arrives at the Estadio Nuevo José Zorilla following two successful seasons with Levante UD, who reached the UEFA Europa League round of 16 last term and in October 2011 briefly led the Liga standings under the former amateur full-back's stewardship.

The ex-UD Salamanca, Albacete Balompié and FC Cartagena trainer – whose Valladolid deal includes an option for a third campaign – was replaced by Joaquín Caparrós at Levante earlier this month.

Valladolid finished 14th in the Spanish top flight in 2012/13, three places below Levante.
