Real Madrid CF's Liga hopes took a huge blow as they conceded a late equaliser to be held 1-1 at lowly Real Valladolid CF with Cristiano Ronaldo going off injured to make matter worse.
Madrid began without the absent Gareth Bale and had a further blow when Ronaldo limped off injured after eight minutes. Despite the setback Sergio Ramos, fresh from his goalscoring feats at FC Bayern München last week, converted a free-kick late in the first half. However, with only five minutes to go Humberto Osorio levelled for what could prove a valuable point in the hosts relegation fight. After the game Carlo Ancelotti said that Ronaldo's injury was not serious, merely muscle fatigue.
The result leaves Madrid four points adrift of leaders and UEFA Champions League final opponents Club Atlético de Madrid and one behind of FC Barcelona. There are only two games left in the season and next up Madrid go to RC Celta de Vigo on Sunday, when both Atlético and Barcelona also play.
