Mendilibar replaces Caparrós at Levante

Following the departure of Joaquín Caparrós, Levante UD have reached an agreement with experienced coach José Luis Mendilibar to take up the reins.

Levante UD have filled the void left by departing coach Joaquín Caparrós with the appointment of José Luis Mendilibar for the 2014/15 Liga campaign.

Caparrós's departure to Granada CF paved the way for Mendilibar's arrival at the Estadi Ciutat de València, where the 53-year-old has agreed terms on a one-year contract with the option to extend to a second term.

A former midfielder with CD Logroñes, Sestao SC and SD Lemona, Mendilibar was last in charge at CA Osasuna, where a two-and-a-half year spell ended last September. The Basque tactician – who has also coached SD Eibar, Athletic Club and Real Valladolid CF among others – takes over a Levante side that finished tenth this season.
