Ready and willing
The 21-year-old has joined on a six-month loan after falling out of favour with Sao Caetano coach Mario Sergio. A left-sided, physically imposing player, Iriney said he was "ready" for the challenge ahead with Rayo, the Primera División's third-bottom club.
'Quality player'
According to Rayo director Alvaro Ruiz Mateos, Iriney has been on the club's wanted list for some time. "He is a quality player," he said. Iriney, who is a former team-mate of Villarreal CF's summer buy Marcos Senna, had a trial with Rayo's city rivals Club Atlético de Madrid four years ago but was not offered a contract.
