Deportivo Alavés have been told that they must do without Argentinian midfield player Martín Astudillo for a further two months.
Astudillo has not played since he suffered a thigh injury in the league game against RC Celta de Vigo on 8 December and could yet require surgery on what doctors have described as a torn tendon.
The 25-year-old, who made 13 league appearances leading up to the Balaídos defeat, could miss another eight matches for the Vitoria club. Alavés are in 14th place in the Primera División, three points above the relegation zone.
