Valencia CF have loaned defender Javier Garrido to second division strugglers Córdoba CF.
Garrido will spend the rest of the season with the Andalusian club, despite having recently signed a four-year contract to stay at Valencia. The decision by coach Rafa Benítez to release him, albeit temporarily, follows Valencia's capture last week of French Under-21 international Anthony Réveillère.
Garrido broke into the Valencia team earlier in the campaign as a replacement for the injured Curro Torres. The 23-year-old made six league appearances and also played in the UEFA Champions League matches against FC Basel and FC Spartak Moskva.
Meanwhile, Córdoba, who are bottom of the Segunda División, are also close to signing English midfield player Vinny Samways from Sevilla FC.
