The former FC Barcelona player tore a ligament in his right knee in training last weekend and was today told that he faces eight weeks on the sidelines. Nadal will consequently miss both legs of Mallorca's upcoming Spanish Cup semi-final against as yet unnamed opponents.
The 36-year-old sat out yesterday's 4-0 quarter-final defeat of Real Madrid CF at Son Moix, after adding his name to a casualty list that includes fellow defender Javier Olaizola, midfield players Alejandro Campano and Vicente Fernández, and striker Tuni.
However, it was Nadal's headed goal in the first leg in the capital which helped set up Mallorca's 5-1 aggregate victory over the European champions. He has made 18 league appearances so far this season for Gregorio Manzano's side.
