The 22-year-old had been set to play for the Spanish champions next season, only for Madrid to claim earlier this week that he had failed a medical. Milito, who made over 50 appearances for Argentinian club CA Independiente Avellaneda last season, suffered a serious knee injury two years ago.
Confident for future
Newly promoted Zaragoza have paid €3m for the central defender, who has signed a four-year contract. Upon completing the move, Milito insisted he was not worried about his fitness. "Everything is all right," he said. "My knee is in perfect condition."
Zaragoza president Alfonso Solans was also pleased with the deal. He said: "We were interested in Milito two years ago. I have to say that Independiente's directors are excellent people to do business with."
