Bordeaux's French reign ended

FC Girondins de Bordeaux's reign as French champions is now mathematically over after their 2-0 defeat at Valenciennes FC. Already 14 points adrift of leaders Olympique de Marseille in sixth, Bordeaux – who led the league from 12 September until 7 March – fell behind 12 minutes into this postponed game to a Grégory Pujol goal and Foued Kadir clinched victory in the second half to take Valenciennes into tenth. Bordeaux remain a point behind Olympique Lyonnais in the last of France's UEFA Europa League berth while to return to UEFA Champions League contention Les Girondins have four points to make up on third-placed LOSC Lille Métropole in as many days.
