Gignac double moves Marseille up to second

André-Pierre Gignac's double earned Olympique de Marseille a 2-1 win at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, putting them second above Paris Saint-Germain FC, who drew 0-0 with RC Lens.

A goal in either half by André-Pierre Gignac earned Olympique de Marseille a come-from-behind victory against FC Sochaux-Montbéliard that propelled the champions into second place in Ligue 1.

Gignac's first, on the stroke of half-time, cancelled out Brown Ideye's opener (43) before his fifth league strike of the campaign (70) lifted OM to within three points of leaders LOSC Lille Métropole, who face Toulouse FC on Sunday. Didier Deschamps' team are a point ahead of Paris Saint-Germain FC, who were held to a goalless draw by struggling RC Lens, and Olympique Lyonnais.

Lyon came from behind to beat AS Saint-Étienne 4-1 in the Rhone-et-Loire derby, thanks to efforts by former Verts forward Bafétimbi Gomis, Bayal Sall's own goal, Michel Bastos and Jimmy Briand.

While seventh-placed Montpelier Hérault SC also drew 0-0 − with bottom club AC Arles-Avignon − AS Monaco FC and AS Nancy-Lorraine recorded respective 3-1 home victories against FC Lorient and AJ Auxerre. Monaco's triumph, their first in four, leaves the Principality outfit a point adrift of safety.

SM Caen are up to 14th thanks to Romain Hamouma's last-gasp winner in a 2-1 defeat of FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
