Gillot leaves Sochaux for Bordeaux

Having earned FC Sochaux-Montbéliard a place in the 2011/12 UEFA Europa League qualifiers, Francis Gillot has been installed as the new coach of FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

Francis Gillot has been named as the new coach of FC Girondins de Bordeaux after leading FC Sochaux-Montbéliard into Europe with a fifth-placed Ligue 1 finish.

The 51-year-old has signed a two-year contract at Bordeaux, having been in charge of Sochaux since 2008. The former RC Lens defender and coach will be tasked next season with securing a return to European football for the 2008/09 French champions, who finished seventh this time around. Jean Tigana left the hot seat before the end of the campaign to be replaced by caretaker Éric Bedouet.
