Sanchez succeeds Montanier at Valenciennes

Ligue 1 side Valenciennes FC have moved quickly to fill the void left by departed coach Philippe Montanier by appointing 57-year-old Daniel Sanchez on a two-year contract.

Daniel Sanchez has been appointed as the new coach of Valenciennes FC four days after previous incumbent Philippe Montanier's departure.

Montanier was confirmed as Real Sociedad de Fútbol trainer on Saturday having been in charge of Valenciennes since 2009, leading them to a 12th-placed finish in Ligue 1 last term. Sanchez steps into the breach having impressed at Tours FC of the second tier. "I'm happy to be back [in the top flight] as a coach," said the former OGC Nice player.
