Évian Thonon Gaillard FC have named Pablo Correa, the former AS Nancy-Lorraine tactician, as their new coach following the departure of Bernard Casoni by mutual consent.
The arrival of the 44-year-old Uruguayan, whose nine-year spell at Nancy's helm included a French League Cup victory in 2006 and ended six months ago, was revealed by the club in the following statement: "Pablo Correa will conduct his first training session on Tuesday before being introduced to media."
Évian, who were playing fourth-tier football just four years ago, owed much of their recent success to former French international Casoni, who took over in January 2010, and led the ambitious club to Ligue 1 – where they currently lie in eleventh place – for the first time in their history.
Correa is the second new Ligue 1 coaching appointment in three days following the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti to league leaders Paris Saint-Germain FC.
