LOSC Lille Métropole missed the chance to close within five points of Ligue 1 leaders Montpellier Hérault SC after being pegged back to a 1-1 draw in the final minute at Stade Rennais FC.

Rudi Garcia's side were put under early pressure in Brittany until Rennes centre-back Onyekachi Apam was dismissed on 38 minutes after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. Lille immediately pounced on their advantage as Aurélien Chedjou headed in Eden Hazard's free-kick moments later, but Rennes avoided suffering a second home defeat this season when Mevlüt Erdinç found the net late on.

In Sunday's other games, Stade Brestois 29 ended Olympique de Marseille's 16-match unbeaten run in all competitions to dent the Mediterranean side's push for a UEFA Champions League berth. Defender Paul Baysse headed in the only goal of the game after 16 minutes and Brest held on to leave Marseille seven points behind third-placed Lille. Toulouse FC climbed to sixth, finally, after they saw off bottom club FC Sochaux-Montbéliard 2-0.
