FC Sochaux-Montbéliard have appointed Éric Hély as caretaker coach, replacing Mécha Baždarević after a 13-game winless streak.
The 47-year-old Hély takes the reins at a top-flight side for the first time in his career having been assistant coach since 2003 at Sochaux, bottom of Ligue 1 with 21 points from 26 games. "I don't want to say anything about what has happened so far this season but it's kind of a dream for me to take [charge of] this team," he said.
Former French international midfielder Bernard Genghini has been brought in to be his assistant. "Considering our league position, we had been thinking of making a change for several games and we hope this is the beginning of a new start," said president Alexandre Lacombe. "We have chosen a man who suits the values of the club."
Baždarević joined Sochaux in June 2011 as a replacement for FC Girondins de Bordeaux-bound Francis Gillot.
