Ibrahimović salvages PSG a point against Lorient

Zlatan Ibrahimović scored a last-gasp penalty – his second goal of the night – to rescue a 2-2 draw for Paris Saint-Germain FC at home to FC Lorient in their Ligue 1 opener.

A last-minute Zlatan Ibrahimović penalty rescued a 2-2 draw for ambitious Paris Saint-Germain FC at home to FC Lorient in their opening match of the Ligue 1 season.

A Maxwell own goal (4) and Jérémie Aliadière strike (48) left PSG nonplussed at the interval, but Ibrahimović (64) halved their arrears with his first goal for the club, and subsequently earned a dramatic draw from the spot.

Maxwell's misfortune from Kévin Monnet-Paquet's cross gave Carlo Ancelotti's side a nightmare start, and only the reflexes of keeper Nicolas Douchez prevented a greater deficit. However, Aliadière doubled Lorient's lead moments before the break, gliding in from the left past the static PSG defence and firing in low from the edge of the area.

Shorn of influential defender Bruno Ecuele Manga after half-time, Lorient struggled. Fabien Audard denied Ezequiel Lavezzi from point-blank range before Ibrahimović rattled the right post with a volley. PSG had clicked into gear, and the Sweden striker made it 2-1 with a sweeping volley from the penalty spot after taking Nenê's deep pass superbly on his chest.

Late on, Audard kept out Kevin Gameiro and Ibrahimović missed a free header as PSG looked destined to be defeated. However, Grégory Bourillon felled Blaise Matuidi inside the area, earning himself a red card and gifting Ibrahimović a chance to snatch a point, which he duly took.

Elsewhere, Yoann Gourcuff's 16th-minute strike earned Olympique Lyonnais a narrow victory at Stade Rennais FC. Benoît Pedretti struck in the final minute as LOSC Lille Métropole won 2-1 at AS Saint-Étienne, while FC Girondins de Bordeaux beat Évian Thonon Gaillard FC 3-1 at Parc des Sports for the biggest win of the day.

Meanwhile, title holders Montpellier Hérault SC drew 1-1 at home against Toulouse FC on Friday night, in a match that featured three red cards.
