Olympique Lyonnais are five points clear at the Ligue 1 summit after showing character to record their tenth win of the campaign at fourth-placed Rhone derby neighbours AS Saint-Étienne.
Paris Saint-Germain FC had piled pressure on the leaders with their victory on Saturday, and the task faced by Remi Garde's charges was rendered even more difficult following a 56th-minute red card for Mouhamadou Dabo. Michel Bastos crashed a low free-kick under goalkeeper Stéphane Ruffier to take the lead shortly afterwards, however, and Lyon's cause was aided by the late dismissal of Alejandro Alonso for two yellow cards.
Meanwhile, Olympique de Marseille received a blow to their title aspirations as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to FC Lorient. The hosts were left reeling when Charles Kaoboré collected a second yellow card for bringing down Jérémie Aliadière in the area on just 38 minutes, and the former Arsenal FC striker promptly converted from the spot. Benjamin Corgnet then added a second shortly after half-time and Kévin Monnet-Paquet rounded things off to leave OM third, and level on 29 points with PSG.
In Sunday's other match, Stade de Reims Champagne and FC Girondins de Bordeaux played out a goalless stalemate.
