Ten-man Reims rattle leaders PSG

Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain FC suffered a surprise defeat by Stade de Reims, slipping to a 1-0 loss despite their hosts playing for more than half an hour with ten men.

There were more away day blues for Paris Saint-Germain FC who, two weeks after slipping up at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, fell to a 1-0 defeat at ten-man Stade de Reims.

When Reims defender Christopher Glombard was dismissed for picking up yellow cards either side of the interval, a subdued match seemed destined to go the way of Carlo Ancelotti's PSG. However, the setback spurred on the ten men, and Reims took the lead when an unmarked Grzegorz Krychowiak pounced on Mohamed Fofana's flick-on at a corner.

PSG brought on David Beckham as they searched for creativity, but to no avail. Indeed only a Salvatore Sirigu save prevented Odair Fortes from making matters worse after a fabulous solo run late on. Olympique Lyonnais will draw level on points with PSG should they defeat Stade Brestois 29 on Sunday.

AS Saint-Étienne jumped from fifth to third with a 4-0 home win against OGC Nice. Already 1-0 to the good thanks to a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty, St-Etienne then went on to make the most of the 24th-minute dismissal of Nice's Valentin Eysseric. Brandão added two second-half goals either side of Yohan Mollo's effort to rubber-stamp a comfortable triumph.

AS Nancy-Lorraine, meanwhile, moved off the foot of the table courtesy of a 2-1 win at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, Benjamin Moukandjo and Florent Zitte on the mark for the visitors. SC Bastia eased their own relegation fears with a 1-0 defeat of rivals AC Ajaccio in the Corsican derby. Ajaccio ended the game with eight men, while Bastia also had two players sent off.

Elsewhere, FC Lorient drew 1-1 with Valenciennes FC and Toulouse FC versus Évian Thonon Gaillard FC ended goalless.
