Lyon held by Brest, Marseille renew hope

Olympique Lyonnais failed to make the most of Paris Saint-Germain FC's defeat on Saturday, drawing 1-1 at Stade Brestois 29, but Olympique de Marseille moved back into contention.

Olympique Lyonnais missed the chance to move level at the Ligue 1 summit with Paris Saint-Germain FC as they were held 1-1 by Stade Brestois 29, before Olympique de Marseille hauled themselves back into the title race by defeating ES Troyes AC 2-1.

Kamel Chafni dented Lyon's hopes after just eight minutes as Landry Chauvin's Brest set out looking for a first home triumph since they beat SC Bastia 3-0 on 17 November. Dejan Lovren and Lisandro were both frustrated in their attempts to draw level, but a second-half own goal from Tripy Makonda ultimately spared the visitors from defeat and lifted them within two points of PSG.

Two late goals moved OM five points from the top of the table as their 2-1 victory against Troyes lifted them back into third spot. Marcos put the visitors ahead after 70 minutes at the Stade Vélodrome, but a Florian Jarjat own goal levelled the scores 11 minutes later and Modou Sougou set up André-Pierre Gignac to bury the winner just seconds afterwards.

Meanwhile, LOSC Lille jumped a place into seventh after second-half efforts from Ronny Rodelin and Salomon Kalou helped them come from behind to defeat FC Girondins de Bordeaux 2-1, inflicting a fourth straight league loss on Francis Gillot's side.
