Monaco's lead cut after draw at Reims

AS Monaco FC lead Ligue 1 on goal difference alone after dropping two points in a 1-1 draw at Stade de Reims, after FC Nantes secured a 3-1 success at Stade Rennais FC.

AS Monaco FC returned to the top of the Ligue 1 but rule the roost on goal difference alone after failing to restore their two-point lead in a 1-1 draw at Stade de Reims.

Displaced at the top by Paris Saint-Germain FC on Saturday, Claudio Ranieri's men returned to the head of the standings despite suffering an early scare, when Antoine Devaux put Reims ahead on four minutes. João Moutinho struck the equaliser nine minutes later, but Monaco's quest for a winner ended in vain, despite Atila Turan receiving a late red card for the hosts.

Earlier in the day, FC Nantes made it two wins in a row as goals from Filip Djordjević, Serge Gakpe and Lucas Deaux helped secure a 3-1 win against a Stade Rennais FC side beaten for the first time in six outings.

AC Ajaccio followed up their first win of the season on Wednesday with a 1-1 home draw against Montpellier Hérault SC, who made it five league draws in a row. Rémy Cabella's penalty put the visitors ahead on ten minutes after Claude Goncalves had seen red for the hosts. Ronald Zubar brought things level, before Montpellier also ended with ten as Yassine Jebbour was dismissed.
