Jacobs takes charge at Valenciennes

Ligue 1's bottom club Valenciennes FC have named former RSC Anderlecht and FC København coach Ariël Jacobs as their new boss in the wake of Daniel Sanchez's departure.

Ariël Jacobs has been unveiled as the new coach of Valenciennes FC a few days after the Ligue 1 side parted company with Daniel Sanchez.

The 60-year-old has arrived on a two-year contract, with the option of a further 12 months. Twice a title winner with RSC Anderlecht in his native Belgium, Jacobs lifted the Danish crown with FC København last season but was dismissed after a poor start to the current campaign. He joins Valenciennes as they sit bottom of Ligue 1, with four points from nine games going into Saturday's match at Stade Rennais FC.
