AS Monaco FC are the nearest challengers to leaders Paris Saint-Germain in France after they defeated AC Ajaccio 1-0 to overtake LOSC Lille, who succumbed by the same scoreline at FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
Starting the weekend just a point behind Paris, LOSC end it four off the pace after their 11-game sequence without conceding was ended by a 1-0 defeat. Landry N'Guémo's first goal of the season won it for Bordeaux on 27 minutes and the home side survived Maxime Poundjé's second-half red card to move sixth.
Looking to take advantage, Monaco were forced to labour at home but made the most after Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi received his marching orders on 62 minutes. Emmanuel Rivière got the winner with a quarter of an hour remaining to move Claudio Ranieri's side two points behind Paris.
Olympique Lyonnais returned to winning ways after three games without success via a 3-1 victory at SC Bastia. Despite being down at the interval to Florian Raspentino's strike, Lyon replied through Alexandre Lacazette, Yassine Benzia and Bafétimbi Gomis in the second half.
Meanwhile, both teams ended with ten men in the 1-1 draw between Toulouse FC and Montpellier Hérault SC as Abel Aguilar cancelled out Souleymane Camara's opener for Montpellier.
