LOSC, OM and Lyon all slip up

LOSC Lille, Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais, three sides chasing European football, all failed to win in Ligue 1, with OGC Nice and Stade Rennais FC claiming scalps.

Three Ligue 1 sides in the race for European football all slipped up on Sunday, with LOSC Lille, Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais all failing to pick up three points.

It is now five games without a league win for third-placed LOSC, who last tasted success on 15 December, as they fell 1-0 at OGC Nice. The difference was made in first-half added time as Mathieu Bodmer's back-heeled flick diverted a Christian Brüls cross past Vincent Enyeama to move the hosts up to 12th.

Olympique de Marseille missed the opportunity to close within two points of fourth-placed AS Saint-Étienne as they were twice pegged back by Toulouse FC in a 2-2 draw. Wissam Ben Yedder cancelled out Dimitri Payet's opener for OM before Serge Aurier did the same again on the hour mark after Mathieu Valbuena had restored the hosts' lead.

A place back in sixth, Olympique Lyonnais' three-game winning run came to an end, falling 2-0 at Stade Rennais FC as their push for the UEFA Champions League places faltered. Cedric Hountondji headed Rennes ahead from a corner 22 minutes in and Lyon's chances of getting back into the game suffered a blow when Samuel Umtiti was shown a red card before the break. Ola Toivonen's first goal for the club sealed the points for Rennes in the 66th minute.
