Ibrahimović treble sets up Paris triumph

Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain have regained their five-point advantage over AS Monaco FC after a Zlatan Ibrahimović hat-trick helped them sink Toulouse FC 4-2.

A Zlatan Ibrahimović hat-trick helped Paris Saint-Germain beat Toulouse FC 4-2 and produce the perfect response to AS Monaco FC's Friday night win.

Showing no signs of fatigue after his two-goal heroics in the capital club's midweek UEFA Champions League success, Ibrahimović took centre stage once again as Laurent Blanc's charges regained their five-point lead at the Ligue 1 summit.

The Sweden captain rolled in a 32rd-minute penalty to open his account and met Yohan Cabaye's free-kick with a thumping 68th-minute header after Wissam Ben Yedder and Ezequiel Lavezzi had traded goals. Ben Yedder's second smart finish made it 3-2 four minutes later, but the irrepressible Ibrahimović then followed up his saved Antonín Panenka-style penalty to earn the match ball and guarantee the points. It was his 44th goal in 42 outings this season.

Also on Sunday, LOSC Lille moved back up to third despite being held to a 0-0 stalemate at home to sixth-placed Olympique Lyonnais. Les Dogues climbed ahead of AS Saint-Étienne but lie ten points behind Monaco and 15 off the top. Lastly, Stade Rennais FC prevailed 3-0 at FC Nantes to leapfrog their hosts into 13th, Paul-Georges Ntep De Madiba, Anders Konradssen and Ola Toivonen weighing in with the goals.
