Lavezzi at the double for peerless Paris

Ezequiel Lavezzi scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain won 3-0 at SC Bastia to maintain their eight-point advantage over AS Monaco FC, who were also victorious.

Ezequiel Lavezzi scored twice as Paris Saint-Germain eased past SC Bastia 3-0 to maintain their grip on top spot in Ligue 1.

Though Lavezzi's two-goal display stood out, the irrepressible Zlatan Ibrahimović is never far from the headlines. The Sweden captain opened the scoring early on with a towering header from Lucas's chipped cross before majestically setting up his team-mate on 19 minutes.

It would have been rude of Lavezzi to squander Ibrahimović's acrobatic, back-heeled through ball and he duly tucked it away. Lavezzi rounded the goalkeeper and kept his cool, if not his balance, to complete the scoring two minutes from time.

AS Monaco FC trimmed Paris's lead back to eight points with a 2-1 home win against lowly FC Sochaux-Montbéliard, Dimitar Berbatov and, from the spot, James Rodríguez scoring for the principality side. At the bottom, there was success for Valenciennes FC and Évian Thonon Gaillard FC against Stade Rennais FC and EA Guingamp respectively.

On Friday, Olympique de Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda made his 250th Ligue 1 appearance but could not crown it with a clean sheet as OM succumbed 1-0 at home to neighbours OGC Nice. Valentin Eysseric broke the deadlock with a free-kick midway through the second half.
