LOSC too strong for Montpellier

LOSC Lille made it two wins in a row as Marko Baša and Nolan Roux helped them to a 2-0 home success against Montpellier Hérault SC to move four points clear in third spot in Ligue 1.

LOSC Lille consolidated their hold on third place in Ligue 1 with a 2-0 victory against Montpellier Hérault SC.

Montpellier travelled north unbeaten in their last nine league encounters, but they fell behind with 18 minutes gone as Marko Baša headed in from a Florent Balmont free-kick. The visitors were undone from another set piece close to the hour mark too, Nolan Roux providing an acrobatic finish after David Rozehnal had headed a corner against the crossbar.

The win moved LOSC four points clear in third as fourth-placed AS Saint-Étienne subsequently succumbed to a 1-0 loss at FC Lorient, Jérémie Aliadière converting a last-minute penalty.

In the late game, Olympique Lyonnais grabbed a dramatic comeback 2-1 win at FC Girondins de Bordeaux, Henri Bedimo equalising in added time before Corentin Tolisso hit a last-gasp winner. The result lifted Lyon up into fifth spot.
