AS Monaco FC breezed through to the French Cup semi-finals in emphatic fashion, condemning RC Lens to a 6-0 defeat at Stade Louis II.
Monaco, who required extra time to see off OGC Nice in the last 16, had no such concerns here. Claudio Ranieri's side may have fallen ten points behind Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, but they moved closer to a different piece of silverware on Wednesday, going in front through Lucas Ocampos on 17 minutes. Dimitar Berbatov added a second prior to the interval, before further strikes from Emmanuel Rivière and Fabinho inside an hour. Ocampos notched a second midway through the second half and Lens's misery was compounded by Loïck Landre's late own goal.
In the day's other quarter-final, EA Guingamp won 2-0 at AS Cannes of the fourth division courtesy of two goals from Mustapha Yatabaré. The hosts had Lucas Rouabah sent off after 38 minutes.
On Tuesday, second-tier side Angers SCO became the first team through to the last four, prevailing 4-2 on penalties after a goalless 120 minutes at AS Moulins. Angers' triumph was all the more impressive considering the first-half dismissal of Mohamed Yattara. Stade Rennais FC and LOSC Lille meet for the last semi-final berth on Thursday.
