Paris must wait after Monaco beat Rennes

AS Monaco FC won at Stade Rennais FC to deny Paris Saint-Germain the chance to win the title on Sunday, as bottom club AC Ajaccio earned a brief reprieve.

AS Monaco FC secured a slender 1-0 win at Stade Rennais FC to prevent league leaders Paris Saint-Germain from being able to win the title with victory on Sunday.

Emmanuel Rivière raced on to a Jerémy Toulalan pass to score his tenth of the campaign and settle the contest ten minutes after half-time. The Riviera club's title chances are alive for at least another week, though they are slim at best, with Laurent Blanc's men ten points clear with a game in hand.

Divock Origi's goal proved equally decisive as LOSC Lille matched that scoreline at home against Valenciennes FC to further strengthen their position in third. Les Dogues are eight points clear of AS Saint-Étienne – who have a game in hand – in the final UEFA Champions League spot.

Mehdi Mostefa's thunderous late strike cancelled out Jussiê's goal for FC Girondins de Bordeaux, keeping AC Ajaccio in the top flight for at least another 24 hours. EA Guingamp can relegate the Corsican outfit with victory on Sunday.

On-loan Jordan Ayew scored the opening goal – his second strike in as many games – as FC Sochaux-Montbéliard sank Toulouse FC 2-0. Sochaux leapfrog Valenciennes into 18th, though they remain five points adrift of safety.

Évian Thonon Gaillard FC eased their own relegation fears, moving eight points clear of the danger zone by beating SC Bastia 2-1, while Vincent Aboubakar hit a last-gasp winner for FC Lorient at OGC Nice.
