Paris Saint Germain spurned the opportunity to wrap up the Ligue 1 title on Sunday after drawing 1-1 at FC Sochaux-Montbéliard.
Laurent Blanc's side knew victory would reward them with a second consecutive French championship and were looking good when Edinson Cavani struck after 24 minutes. Thiago Motta was the architect, executing a sublime ball over the top for the Uruguay striker, who finished with aplomb. Ezequiel Lavezzi should arguably have doubled the visitors' lead moments later as he fired over after outstripping Stoppila Sunzu.
Sébastien Roudet then capitalised on a slip from Motta at the other end, but his shot was expertly saved by visiting goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu. The equaliser Sochaux had been threatening arrived 11 minutes after the interval, however, as Sirigu's punch rebounded off Thiago Silva and crept in. The result means Paris will have to wait at least until 7 May, when they entertain Stade Rennais FC, to be crowned champions.
In third, LOSC Lille consolidated their hold on France's final UEFA Champions League berth by overcoming FC Girondins de Bordeaux 2-1. Salomon Kalou and Ryan Mendes struck either side of half-time before a Jussiê penalty gave Bordeaux a glimmer of hope. Kalou missed from the spot in added time, but LOSC made sure to return seven points clear of AS Saint-Étienne
Meanwhile, fifth-placed Olympique Lyonnais saw off SC Bastia 4-1. Bafétimbi Gomis and Nabil Fekir put the hosts two ahead before the interval, with Gianni Bruno halving the deficit in the 47th minute. Lyon refused to panic, and goals from Bakary Koné and Alexandre Lacazette sealed the points.
