Víkingur are savouring their second consecutive Faroese Cup title and third overall after defeating EB/Streymur 2-0 in a repeat of last year's showpiece.
Appearing in their seventh straight final, EB/Streymur took a gamble on the fitness of forward Arnbjørn Hansen, and it nearly paid off when the 27-year-old rattled the crossbar from the edge of the area after just four minutes. However, just moments later Hansen suffered a hamstring injury which will also keep him sidelined for the Faroe Islands' upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Germany.
Víkingur seized the initiative after 14 minutes when Filip Djordjević got to the byline inside the penalty area and cut the ball back to Finnur Justinussen, who slotted in with the goal at his mercy. The holders then doubled their lead five minutes later courtesy of Sølvi Vatnhamar, whose shot from inside the area found the net via the bar.
The Eysturoy outfit also went close to adding to their lead as the rest of the first half played out, though their goalkeeper Géza Turi had to make a smart reflex save to prevent Hans Pauli Samuelsen from pulling a goal back just before the interval. EB/Streymur dominated possession in the second period but failed to create clear-cut scoring opportunities, swinging in crosses that Víkingur were able to clear and trying their luck in vain from distance.
