Germany round-up: Dortmund held

BV Borussia Dortmund failed to knock Bayer 04 Leverkusen off the top of the 1. Bundesliga.
BV Borussia Dortmund passed up a chance to knock Bayer 04 Leverkusen off the top of the 1. Bundesliga on Tuesday with a 2-2 draw at lowly 1. FC Nürnberg, while champions FC Bayern München failed to win for a sixth match in a row.

Bremen go third
SV Werder Bremen, meanwhile, maintained their good run of form to beat SC Freiburg 3-2, thanks to goals from Marco Bode, Mladen Krstajic and Viktor Skripnik. The win lifts them up to third place in the table behind Dortmund and Leverkusen, who face VfL Wolfsburg away on Wednesday.

Dortmund fightback
After a goalless first half in Nürnberg, the home side went 2-0 up against Dortmund with strikes from midfielder Lars Müller and defender Marek Nikl. However, the visitors replied through Lars Ricken and Miroslav Stevic to secure a point.

Bayern disappointing
UEFA Champions League holders Bayern go into the Bundesliga winter break in fifth place after a disappointing 0-0 home draw with 14th-placed VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Hamburg hit five
Roy Präger struck twice as Hamburger SV won 5-2 at home to FC Energie Cottbus, while Hertha BSC Berlin came from behind twice in their 2-2 home draw with FC St. Pauli, Andreas Schmidt netting the second equaliser five minutes from time.
