1. FC Nürnberg preserved their Bundesliga status after completing a 3-0 aggregate victory against FC Augsburg in the promotion/relegation play-off. Having lost the first leg 1-0 on Thursday, Augsburg fell further behind with İlkay Gündoğan's 34th-minute effort leaving the second-tier side needing to score three times to win the tie. Ibrahima Traoré's dismissal on 57 minutes further hampered their hopes and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's penalty confirmed Nürnberg's survival.
