Hamburg and Hannover experience frustration

Hamburger SV and Hannover 96 conceded late equalisers to lose their perfect Bundesliga records while FC Bayern München and SV Werder Bremen drew 0-0 on Saturday.

Hamburger SV and Hannover 96 dropped Bundesliga points for the first time this season on Saturday while FC Bayern München and SV Werder Bremen drew 0-0 ahead of the start of their UEFA Champions League group stage campaigns.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim moved on to nine points from three games by beating FC Schalke 04 on Friday night but Hamburg were held 1-1 by 1. FC Nürnberg after Javier Pinola's late penalty. Having led by two goals despite being down to ten men, Hannover were pegged back to 2-2 against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Patrick Helmes levelling in added time. The other two teams with perfect records, 1. FSV Mainz 05 and 1. FC Kaiserslautern, meet on Sunday.

Schalke's fellow UEFA Champions League contenders Bayern and Bremen are in the bottom half of the table after their goalless result. VfB Stuttgart and VfL Wolfsburg remain, like Schalke, without a point after they lost 2-1 to SC Freiburg and 2-0 against BV Borussia Dortmund respectively.
