Mainz maintain perfect start

1. FSV Mainz 05 prolonged their unblemished start to the season by handing 1. FC Kaiserslautern a first defeat in a 2-1 victory, while 1. FC Köln beat FC St. Pauli 1-0.

1. FSV Mainz 05 made it three wins from three in the Bundesliga after ending 1. FC Kaiserslautern's perfect record with a 2-1 victory, while 1. FC Köln collected their first points of the season by downing FC St. Pauli 1-0.

Mainz joined TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as the only other side on nine points in Germany's top flight after fighting their way back from behind. Srdjan Lakić had put visitors Kaiserslautern ahead with 20 minutes on the clock, but Thomas Tuchel's men turned the match around thanks to Niko Bungert's 71st-minute equaliser and a goal from substitute André Schürrle two minutes later.

In the bottom half of the table, Köln climbed to 14th courtesy of Taner Yalçın's 17th-minute decider. St. Pauli remain one spot higher in 13th.
